Yoga had been my passion and calling for as long as I could remember. For years, I poured my heart into being a yoga and meditation instructor, guiding others to find their inner peace, heal their wounds, and reclaim their power. I believed wholeheartedly in the transformative power of the practice, teaching that balance, strength, and self-love could be achieved through the body, mind, and spirit. But life has a way of testing even the strongest convictions.
During my marriage, I was living two lives. Outwardly, I was the serene, centered yogini who inspired others to overcome their challenges. Yet, behind closed doors, I was enduring a toxic and abusive relationship. While I was helping others break free from their pain, I was quietly drowning in my own. The situation came to a breaking point when I uncovered dark secrets about my partner—truths that shattered any illusions I had been clinging to.
The discovery forced me to take a long sabbatical, stepping away from the practice and teachings that had once been my sanctuary. For the first time, everything I believed in, everything I had taught others, was put to the test. Could yoga and meditation truly help me heal when I felt so broken? Could I live the lessons of resilience and self-compassion that I had so often shared with others?
The road to healing was not linear. There were days when the mat felt like the last place I wanted to be. But slowly, I returned to it, using yoga not as an escape but as a mirror—to confront my pain, acknowledge my worth, and begin rebuilding my shattered self-esteem. It was through yoga that I began to process the betrayal and toxicity, unraveling the layers of guilt, anger, and sadness that had suffocated me.
